Location
The holiday cottage Pembrokeshire is the perfect
base from which to explore the Preseli Hills and
the wonderful beaches of the Coast National
Park. The nearest village is Crymych with a wide
range of facilities, shops and services,
including a leisure centre. Enjoy a warm,
friendly welcome at the Crymych Arms and you can
check out the Megalithic burial mound known as
Crymych Wayside Barrow.
The Preseli Hills
At the foot of the magnificent Preseli Hills, Plas Drygarn holiday cottage Pembrokeshire is ideally situated for exploring the Pembrokeshire countryside. The hills rise to 536 metres above sea level at Foel Cwmcerwyn, the highest point of the county with spectacular views. Dotted with Neolithic and Prehistoric remains, the hills are great for walking, running and cycling. Bluestone from the hills was used to build the inner circle of Stonehenge, transported over 240 miles away to Salisbury Plain. Sacred and historic sites include:
Bedd Arthur – or Arthur's Grave, claimed by local folklore as the burial place of King Arthur and his companion, Natthulal.
Carn Menyn - a grouping of craggy rock outcrops, believed to have been the main source for the bluestones used at Stonehenge.
Carreg Coetan Arthur - a Neolithic burial chamber dating back to 3000BC.
Castell Henllys - Iron Age Hill Fort, an important archaeological site where you’ll see a complete reconstruction of an Iron Age village.
Pentre Ifan – communal burial site; dolmen dates from approximately 3500BC.

In easy reach are the large bays are Newport, Fishguard, St Bride's and Carmarthen. The 4* holiday cottage Pembrokeshire is just 20 minutes drive from the Beaches at Newport and Poppit Sands. Traeth Mawr or Big Beach, is the largest at Newport with almost a mile of flat sand stretching across the bay below Newport Golf Course. The Parrog beach is an Old Port with a long history in the boating world, evidence of which still remains. An old crossing point known as 'The Chain' still exists for anyone wishing to wade across the estuary to Big Beach at low tide.

Blue Lagoon Water Park - One of the largest indoor waterpark in Wales, located in the Bluestone holiday village can be reached in less than 30 minutes from the holiday cottage Pembrokeshire.
Folly Farm - Adventure Park and Zoo, winner of the Best Family Day Out is just 17 miles away from the holiday cottage Pembrokeshire. The park is home to the only giraffe in Wales and includes 6 fun-filled amusement and activity zones, some of which are undercover.
Llys Y Fran Reservoir – A popular
angling centre where you can fish from a mark on
the shore or hire a boat. Walkers and Cyclists
can enjoy the excellent 7 mile track that
circumnavigates the reservoir.
Pembroke Castle - Established in 1093 during the
Norman invasion of Wales, yet the site has been
occupied since at least, the Roman period.
Margaret Beaufort gave birth to her only child;
the future King Henry VII (founder of the Tudor
dynasty) at Pembroke Castle in 1457.
